Microsoft Surface 平板尚未正式推出，其銷售是否能達到預期仍是未知之數。不過 Microsoft 似乎對 Surface 平板十分有信心，並且已在招聘廣告中暗示，會有第二代產品推出。
根據消息指出，Microsoft 在六月至八月的網上招聘廣告中，提供了正在開發第二代 Surface 平板。雖然未有任何規格透露，但據知其中一個計劃是將 Touch Cover 繼續改良，嘗試其他物料及設計等，另外也會在散熱設計上改善，在散熱及效能上取得更佳平衡。
