儘管 Apple 因為 App Store 向 App 收取 30% 分佣，被各大網路企業認為該公司違反反壟斷法，Google 有意模仿此種經營模式，公布將會在下年開始執行相關規條，所有經由 Google Play Store 提供的應用程式，將被強制要求使用該平台進行支付。
據外媒報道，Google 周一（28 日）表示，將從 2021 年 9 月 30 日起，開始執行 Play Store 新規則，要求在 Google Play Store 上架的 Android App 開發者使用 Google Play Store 內的支付系統，不能再使用其獨立支付系統，即要配合採用 Google 機制讓使用者完成 App 內購買（in-app purchases)，意味著其收入將被 Google 抽取 30% 的分佣。
不過，Google 強調，這個政策其實不會影響大多數已在 Google Play 的開發人員，因為過去一年中只有少於 3%的開發者在 Google Play 上販售數位商品，而在當中絕大多數亦已正使用 Google Play 的結算系統。
不過，Android 仍開源系統，與 Apple 的封閉式生態系統相比，Android 的自由度相當高，可以允許用戶相對輕鬆地下載協力廠商的 App，故可能會有協力廠商會推出 App 商店，在其開發一個新的 App 市場，為開發人員提供更公平的條款，並繞過 Google 的規則。
