Google 在 2020 年發表了首款預載 Google TV 系統的產品 Chromecast with Google TV，亦開始為 Android TV 產品升級 Google TV 系統，日前有報導指 Google 已經著手開發 Chromecast with Google TV 的第二代，而產品開發代號為「Boreal」。
網站 Protocol 指新版本的處理器為 Amlogic S805X2，搭配 2GB RAM，將會支援 HDR10+ 和第一代欠缺的 AV1 格式解碼。消息指第二代產品可能會以 Chromecast HD with Google TV 名義發表，因為它只支援 1080p / 60fps 影像輸出，而第一代的影像輸出為較高的 4K HDR / 60fps。
因為最高輸出畫質較低，有指 Chromecast HD with Google TV 的定價會比上一代便宜 10 美元，只需 40 美元（約 312 港元），以較低價挑戰 Amazon 和小米等推出的同類電視棒產品。
