Google 昨（5 日）於 CES 2023 發表專為汽車而設的 Google HD Maps。與 Google Maps 不同的是，Google 的 Automotive Services 會額外為 Google HD Maps 的車主提供 Level 2＋ 或 Level 3 輔助駕駛系統。Volvo 及 Polestar 宣布，Volvo EX90 及 Polestar 3 將支援 Google HD Maps 服務。
Google HD Maps 資料建立於 Google Maps 原有的資料庫上，提供精準的車路及路標等定位細節，幫助汽車輔助駕駛系統在道路上定位。不過車主不能直接查看 Google HD Maps，甚至有機會不知道汽車是否正在使用 Google HD Maps，預計使用 Google HD Maps 時汽車的輔助駕駛功能會有改善。
Google 發言人表示，Google HD Maps 現階段主要集中使用在高速公路等高流量的道路上，但未有表明涉及的地區及高速公路。而 Google 亦正與汽車製造商合作推出 Google HD Maps 服務，以測試 Google HD Maps 的效用。
