繼昨天日出席了為時 5 小時的參議院聽證會， Facebook 創辦人朱克伯格（Mark Zuckerburg）將要出席眾議院能源和商務委員會。屆時，朱克伯格將接受近 100 名眾議院議員質詢，而當中不少議員曾接受 Facebook 資助的競選經費。
事實上， Facebook 在過去 12 年共資助 700 萬美元（約港幣 HK$ 5,495 萬）競選支出，當中民主黨人佔大多數。與其他科技巨頭相比， Facebook 在政治上的支出並不突出。據 Center for Responsive Politics資料顯示，自 2014 年起，朱克伯格已向今星期面對的參眾兩院議員捐出共 641,685 美元（約港幣 HK$ 504 萬）支出。
但即使不少參眾兩院議員曾接受 Facebook 捐款，但仍對出席聽證會的朱克伯格針鋒相對。當中， Cory Booker 及 Kamala Harris 兩名參議院議員自 2014 年起，分別接受了 $44,025 及 $30,990 美元捐獻，但仍追問 Facebook 的廣告政策及隱瞞客戶資料外洩等事宜，使朱克伯格面有難色。
即使有部分議員發言為 Facebook 辯護，但根據相關資料，他們都沒有從朱克伯格手上收過太多捐款，而且他們的發言亦與黨派路線沒有分歧。上述資料亦詳細記載了自 2014 年起，參議院司法和商業委員會以及眾議院能源和商業委員會成員收受 Facebook 捐款的詳情，方便公眾監察議員的一舉一動。
