在 2019 年 5 月 Google I/O 發表，並且在去年 10 月於美國有限度推出的 Google Assistant 駕駛模式功能，日前被發現開始向全球用戶陸續提供。Google Assistant 官方支援頁面最近進行了更新，將駕駛模式功能由只提供予美國的英語用戶，變成了部份語言和國家可能並不支援。
Google Assistant 的駕駛模式是要取代 Android Auto 的手機版本，為駕駛人士將短訊讀出、發送短訊、撥打或接聽電話、語音操控音樂播放，而毋須離開 Google Maps 的導航畫面。如果駕駛者使用 Android 手機，而 Google 亦開通了 Assistant 的駕駛模式，只需要在 Google Maps 點擊設定 > 導航設定 > Google Assistant，然後選用駕駛模式。
網站 Andrid Police 表示有英國的 Pixel 5 手機用戶表示，已經可以使用這項新功能，而筆者的數個帳號則還未開通。
