Google 高級副總裁 Hiroshi Lockheimer 批評 iMessage 用顏色區分用戶，導致非 iOS 用戶感到被排斥，建議 Apple 應支援 RCS，並樂意與 Apple 合作共同使用 RCS。
Lockheimer 在 Twiiter 引述《華爾街日報》的報道，批評 iMessage 只讓 Apple 用家使用會對同業不公，並指 Apple 將人性和公平作為行銷核心，利用朋輩壓力增加銷量。

《華爾街日報》報道指，由於 iMessage 用家的訊息為藍色，而其他平台用家的訊息則為綠色，導致年輕的 Android 或其他平台用戶與 iOS 用戶傳送訊息時感到被排斥，更有美國年青人因此而遭到欺凌。有受訪者表示看到非 iOS 用戶的綠色訊息會感到奇怪，但無法解釋這種感覺。
Lockheimer 呼籲 Apple 應支援 RCS（富通訊解決方案），以避免非 iOS 用戶因訊息顏色不一而遭欺凌。RCS 為取代 SMS 的新技術，可支援傳送文字、圖片、影片的功能，性質與 WhatsApp 及 Signal 相若。不論 iOS、Android 或其他平台用戶，只需 SIM 卡便能使用 RCS，且操作體驗一致。
Android 官方 Twitter 隨後亦轉發 Lockheimer 的內容，指 iMessage不應從壟斷市場的策略中獲利，建議 Apple 改善上述問題，減輕青少年壓力。但有網民認為 Lockheimer 的發言是希望 Apple 能為 Android 用戶提供 iMessage 服務，Lockheimer 澄清未曾有該意念，只是希望 Apple 能支援 RCS，並樂意與 Apple 合作共同使用 RCS。
